Metabolism Rate

So when I went to check out Sports Club of Canada before joining, a trainer had told me that they have this device at the club that can test a person's metabolism rate in 10mins! Interesting!

Finally after bugging my trainer for some time, we finally set a day(today) to find out my metabolism rate! I'm really curious.

It was a small little device, with a mouthpiece into which I have to breath, not using my nose, for 15 full minutes. Sitting there, looking like an idiot, trying to make conversation with my trainer, with a nose pincher making me look even sillier... 15 mins later, the mystery is revealed.

If I were to wake up in the morning, NOT do a single thing, sit absolutely still on the couch watching tv all day, I would burn 1700+ Calories. My trainer says he burns about 2400 Cal per day, so I guess my rate isn't that great. Seeing as though I have to move around during my waking hours, that means, in order for me to lose weight, I have to ingest about 1700 calories or less per day... Doesn't seem too difficult right? We'll see...

It's over... I feel LOST!

Damn! I can't believe it's over... I am done reading Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. What am I to do?!?! *sob sob* I can't believe it only took me 3 days to be done with the book... it's NOT FAIR!!!

Although I predicted the ending a couple chapters prior, I still hate it! And I have to say, I was rather disappointed with this book. Not becoz of how things turned out, but how this story was developed.. how it lacked some sort of ending... There were times while I was reading, I felt like I wanted to put the book down.. something I have never experienced with the Harry Potter series. And a couple plot lines weren't convincing.. felt rushed....

Still, I can't wait for the next book.. and I secretly hope that the readers will be surprised with an annoucement that the 7th book shall not be the last of Harry Potter. Hogwarts, Harry, his friends and his experiences have long since became part of my life!

Till the next book...

~Harry Potter a knocking~

FINALLY!!! I have the long awaited 6th Harry Potter book in my hand. Yes, I know it's been out for quite some time. I was originally gonna wait till end of the year when I might be taking a long tedious flight to buy the book. But since the book came, thanks to my dear cousin, I can't even try to prevent myself from reading it the very second I could find some quiet time.

With the book in my hand, an expected fear came... I do not want to finish reading it in a short time. What am I to do during the wait for the 7th book to be out??? With that, an even bigger fear hit. What am I to do when I'm done reading the 7th book, last of the Harry Potter series? I feel so lost! I am sure I'm not alone in this. I am secretly hoping that I might be pleasantly surprised with an announcement of an 8th book... *sigh*

Anyways, leave me alone now so I can read in peace!

Sorry I couldn't make it... but... and...

We have known each other for over a decade, and were inseparable for a part of it. We were once young and naive, did silly things together, but now you are mature and a Mrs! I am sorry I cannot be there today to witness your big day.

You are so considerate that you have set the next big day on a day that is convenient for me. Unfortunately we are at the time of our lives where people around us are all getting married. I found out that another friend will potentially be setting her big day around the same time as well. I can only pray that it will not land on the same day. IF it has to be the same weekend, please let one be on a Friday and the other on a Saturday. So the both of you MUST consult me before setting the actual date! :P

Anyone else with big days coming up?

International Cuisine

Many a times I have heard people around me comment that they love Toronto because one can find almost any type of cuisine here. I've never paid too much attention to it. Maybe because subconsciously, I refuse to believe Toronto can be better than Singapore in any way, especially in terms of food.

Sadly, I must admit one can really find almost any kind of cuisine here. However, it is sad that Canada has no food they can call their own. Today, for the 2nd time, I had Ethiopian food for dinner. It was great, and I don't remember seeing any Ethiopain restaurants in Singapore. Anyone?

Although I must say, I would rather be dining in Singapore any day! Think of all the yummy and cheap hawker food I can get my hands on there. Granted that I can find Singaporean/Malaysian restaurants there, NONE can even come close to make me want to revisit those restaurants. They can't even replicate a simple Hokkien Mee?!?! Even if they are from Singapore or Malaysia! How is that possible?

Well, everything happens for a reason. So maybe it's good that I can't find good Singaporean food in this town of international cuisine. It keeps me yearning for home, and it gives me pleasure of satisfaction when I'm there. :)

Till next time, memories of hokkien mee, satay and roti prata will have to suffice. :P

Free Your Mind!!!

Finally, the much awaited, En Vogue's concert!

Saw the concert listed on the calendar of events when I was at the Cyndi Lauper's concert in June. Loved En Vogue back in the days! With concert tickets (floor seats!) costing under $50, how can I miss it?

The view was great! The performance was AWESOME!!! FANTASTIC!!! Worth every single cent! Sounds just as great as they had been before! No signs of deprovement! Unlike Cyndi Lauper... Well... I got my tickets free for that concert, so can't complain much.

It was weird seeing some older asian people in the audience. Like the middle age lady sitting next to me. She was alone, looked lost, bet she had no idea who's on stage. Seemed more interested in looking over to my direction than the stage! Must have been free tickets! The concert was held in a casino, so the casino gives free concert tickets to people who gamble alot. Still... there are lots of concerts held there.. why didn't they pick something that might interest them more???
